CBD Cigarettes the most exciting CBD product of 2019?

CBD

Cigarettes

the most exciting CBD product of 2019?

Few products in the hemp-based cannabidiol (CBD) scene are creating as much interest as CBD cigarettes right now. These products are proving an efficient and convenient way for people to get their CBD dosage, and enjoy the fast-acting effects that come from smoking. In this article, we’ll explain why CBD ciggies are growing in popularity, and the differences between certain products in this market. We’ll also discuss why CBD flower cigarettes are an awesome alternative to tobacco cigarettes, and explore the general effects of these products.

Why are CBD hemp Cigarettes

so popular?

People have smoked for thousands of years, and continue to do so, even though smoking has known health risks. That suggests there is something unique and desirable about the smoking experience. We see this especially with the hemp and cannabis industries. CBD can be vaporized, eaten, taken in an oil, and even used as a cream – but still, some people prefer smoking! Taking CBD flower cigarettes involves inhaling the smoke, and waiting for the cannabinoids to enter the bloodstream and produce an effect. The process of CBD becoming active is much faster from smoking than when consuming edibles or taking tincture oils sublingually. The upshot is more instant relief from symptoms, a critical perk when managing many ailments, including pain, inflammation, stress and anxiety.

Are CBD cigarettes legal?

What’s more, unlike cannabis joints and cigarettes, CBD cigarettes in the USA are non-intoxicating and non-psychoactive. By law, manufacturers must keep overall THC content below 0.3 percent. It’s simply impossible to get ‘high’ from a product that has such a high quantity of CBD, but such a low amount of THC.Many popular CBD smokes are odorless, and therefore offer stealth and discretion. If regular joints have one downside, it’s the really pungent aroma. By smell and appearance, CBD hemp joints look no different from marijuana joints. Brands like Plain Jane remove the aroma-giving terpenes from their hemp during processing to achieve the odorless effect. The no-smell feature is much-loved by CBD smokers who want to be lowkey about their use. Smoking isn’t a problem per se, but the strong weed-like aroma makes it very difficult for some people to use standard hemp joints. This applies especially in states where marijuana isn’t legal, among those who are worried about the impression their neighbors or family members may get.

More convenient than vaping

Smoking CBD is also more convenient than vaping it. Vapers always have to ensure their batteries have enough charge, and that the device isn’t going to leak. Choosing an e-liquid that the vaporizer can handle also brings about potential issues. With smoking, it’s just a case of having a CBD cigarette pack to hand and a working lighter. It goes without saying, but the cigarette will never fail to light or need recharging! Smoking may carry a few more health issues than vaping, but as we’ll explain later, these are far fewer with CBD hemp cigarettes than normal cigarettes.

Getting to know CBD cigarettes

effects

CBD has a long list of potential health benefits, although very few have been fully confirmed. But the widespread availability of CBD products in recent years – along with some important research – is showing us just what the compound is good for. We’ll stick to four qualities of CBD in this section.

Inflammation: CBD appears effective at reducing and regulating inflammation levels, albeit in a different way to existing treatments. Scientists have unearthed close links between the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and the immune system. CBD’s balancing, therapeutic effect may help combat autoimmune diseases, while also providing relief from osteoarthritis and other inflammatory conditions.

Stress: Soothing stress is one of the main motives for smoking tobacco cigarettes. But tobacco’s addictive traits can ultimately end up becoming a cause of stress! Smoking CBD-rich hemp cigarettes instead still delivers the authentic smoking experience that many find relaxing, and research indicates CBD also plays a chemical role in reducing stress.

Pain: New pain-killers are essential after the awful effects of the opioid crisis. Medical marijuana is a longstanding, natural solution, and now people are embracing its non-psychoactive cousin, too. Chronic pain outranks all other reasons for using CBD products, and the quick onset of effects from smoking CBD cigarettes legally is perfect, and offers peace of mind, too.

Anxiety: Make anxiety a thing of the past by smoking CBD. Experts have studied this area for close to a decade, and have released interesting findings. Not only does CBD correct chemical imbalances to tackle anxiety, these effects have actually shown to be useful in real situations. Check out this Italian study on social anxiety, which compared CBD to a placebo in a public speaking experiment.

Taking CBD to quit smoking cigarettes

At first, the concept of smoking cigarettes to quit cigarettes is a bizarre one! But there is a very important difference between tobacco and hemp. The former is loaded with nicotine, the substance that changes the brain and causes a chemical addiction. In contrast, CBD, the main compound in hemp, does not have addictive properties. A study has even found that CBD consumption has an anti-addictive effect, that may reduce dependency on drugs, including nicotine. The placebo-controlled research revealed that smokers who used a CBD inhaler when they had the urge to smoke cut down on their overall cigarette intake by 40% more than the group without CBD. In reality, CBD cigarette effects could help tobacco smokers to wean themselves off nicotine, and with it a harmful tobacco smoking addiction. Start by swapping a tobacco cigarette for a hemp cigarette! This will quickly cut down nicotine and tobacco cigarette consumption.

Comprehensive Hempbombs review

New and existing companies are looking to get in on this market. We’ve picked out the best CBD cigarettes for sale, and reviewed each of them.

CBD Pre-Rolled Cigarettes by Plain Jane

The key to a successful hemp cigarette is not overcomplicating it! And Plain Jane sure have kept things plain. These pre-rolled cigarettes are really affordable, and look just the same as any cigarettes, complete with the tight, manufactured roll and filter. We really like that Plain Jane have gone the extra mile to ensure their product looks just like normal cigarettes, and not weed – right down to the design of the carton and the cigarette itself. The organic, odorless hemp is rolled with cigarette rice paper, and each smoke has 0.9 grams of hemp a hefty 72mg serving of CBD. These potent smokes are well-suited to calming anxiety, paranoia and panic attacks, easing stress throughout the day, and also relieving pain. Plain Jane CBD cigarette packs contain 10 smokes, which adds up to 720mg of CBD per carton. In addition to the ‘Original’ odorless product, Plain Jane also have a tasty, ‘Full Flavor’ range. However, this flavor does come with the weed aroma many CBD smokers are trying to get away from!

Hemptrance CBD Cigarettes

Get a premium, hemp-smoking experience with Hemptrance. This brand cashes in on the entire hemp plant. Their products contain cannabinoids – not just CBD, but cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN) and cannabichromene (CBC), too. CBG, CBN and CBC are all non-psychoactive and complement the CBD nicely with extra beneficial effects. Terpenes and flavonoids are also present in these organic and flavorful full-spectrum cigs. Hemptrance smokes are vegan-friendly, and are free from pesticides, heavy metals and other dangerous chemicals. The lovely, herbal taste is perfect for cannabis smokers who want an authentic, non-psychoactive option. These cigarettes also burn slowly, making them economical, as users are able to inhale greater quantities of CBD. Hemptrance cigarettes are great for getting CBD’s effects, and are also a good choice if trying to quit tobacco. They also sell CBD-infused menthol cigarettes. It’s just a shame Hemptrance doesn’t specify how much CBD is in each cigarette.

Wellmart CBD Premium CBD Cigarettes

Wellmart claim their cigarettes are higher quality than those of their rivals. They only use quality CBD flower, rather than the shake or trimmings from hemp, which some companies are notorious for doing. These cigarettes look just like normal cigarettes with the same tightly-packed machine roll and filter. This is a good product for anyone trying to quit normal cigs, and for those seeking a classic hemp-smoking experience. If there’s one negative, it’s that everything about Wellmart’s cigarettes is premium, including the price.

Tightly-packed for a smooth and pleasant smoke

Great for getting all of CBD’s benefits

CBD Joint and Kief-Infused Pre-Roll

The CBD joint from CBD Genesis is a touch different from other cigarettes we’ve featured here. These have the look of a traditional, cone-shaped joint, and are pre-rolled with RAW papers. Cone joints hold more flower than regular cigarettes, and therefore more CBD, too. These kief-infused pre-rolls are lab-tested, and available in five wonderful flavors. We have the Organic Gold Roll for traditionalists, fruity GrapeStrawberry and Strawberry Lemonade joints, and also a refreshing Coconut offering. Adding kief to the CBD flower really ramps up the CBD content, providing a much more potent dose than normal CBD joints. This product does have terpenes, so will have a cannabis-like smell, but it’s a fantastic joint for people wanting fast and strong CBD relief.

3 reasons to buy

Contains organic, lab-certified CBD flower

Available in five gorgeous flavors

Mixed with kief for added potency

CBD-rich cigarettes here

to stay?

For many years, the conventional wisdom was that smoking was on its last legs. The science that smoking is bad for health has been shown time and time again, and healthier alternatives like e-cigarettes and vaping promised to get rid of smoking for good.

But the reality is much different! Nobody anticipated the arrival of high-CBD cigs, which are decidedly not as dangerous as tobacco smokes, simply because there’s no nicotine. With hemp and cannabis, smoking will always be popular as it’s considered social, authentic and, for many, the best way to get the effects. Moreover, a lot of people are concerned about low-quality e-liquids and vaping products, and their potential dangers. Buying legit, lab-tested vape juices is completely safe, but for skeptics who smoke but haven’t yet vaped, it may be enough to put them off.In a nutshell, the market for CBD smokables is there, and the arrival of odorless products – like Plain Janes – shows that hemp smoking doesn’t have to be smelly! Furthermore, smoking CBD is better for stress and mood than smoking tobacco. The stimulating effects of low CBD doses are always just as helpful as those from nicotine, just without the addiction! The future for CBD ciggies looks bright!

Reviewing Koi CBD’s Best Tincture Oils, Vape Juices and Gummies of 2019

Reviewing Koi CBD’s

Best Tincture Oils, Vape Juices and Gummies of 2019

In this article, we’ll cover absolutely everything you need to know about Koi CBD. We’ll touch on who they are, and how they have become such an established name in the hemp-based CBD market. We’ll look at all the Koi CBD products we stock at CBDVapeJuice.net, and assess their pros and cons, while answering some frequently asked questions. And if you scroll right down to the bottom, we even have a Koi CBD coupon code, so you can get 15% off your order!

The easiest way to navigate this article is by using the table of contents provided. Ready to learn more about this game-changing brand? Let’s get straight to it.

Who are Koi CBD?

In 2015, Koi CBD were born in Florida, and in the space of four short years, they have bloomed into one of the hemp-derived CBD’s industry’s biggest names. Above all else, Koi CBD cares about quality and transparency. The United States essentially legalized CBD in 2014, with the Agricultural Act of 2014 (Farm Bill). But many onlookers considered the CBD market’s early days as a modern Wild West. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) didn’t – and still doesn’t – regulate CBD products. Back then, a few grifters and opportunists were ripping off customers with fake or low-quality CBD. Koi CBD realized this needed to change. Their ethos was to give people an unclouded look at how their products were made – this included detailing how their hemp is cultivated, how the hemp extract is taken, and exactly what ingredients go into their products.

Third-party lab testing

Koi CBD does this for every single batch they make, a key step that has helped to standardize quality and give customers assurances. The company makes the third-party lab reports for all their products available online and for free. Florida’s Green Scientific Labs conduct the tests for Koi CBD’s products, clarifying cannabinoid and terpene concentrations. They also check for any pesticides, microbes, residual solvents, mycotoxins, heavy metals and dangerous vitamin E acetate. As expected, Koi CBD’s products always get a clean bill of health, have the stated amount of CBD, and never contain more than the maximum permitted 0.3% THC.

What is CBD?

When the US legalized hemp, few people expected this would set the stage for a multi-million dollar CBD industry. But with good old American entrepreneurship, that’s precisely what happened!Lawmakers knew that any hemp legislation would need to restrict the psychoactive THC content, but they didn’t consider any of the plant’s non-intoxicating components. With so few people aware of CBD at the time, there was no need to!But hemp legalization meant that companies could sell products with as much CBD as they liked, providing the THC limit was not exceeded. Cannabinoid researchers have studied cannabidiol (CBD) for decades. Indeed, experts isolated both CBD and THC in the early 1960s.The cannabinoid’s potential therapeutic uses and non-psychoactive nature quickly became apparent. CBD’s benefits then became clearer when researchers identified the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in the early 1990s.

Clinical research is still lagging, hence why CBD is rarely found in pharmaceutical drugs, and why it’s not prescribed as a mainstream treatment. But Koi CBD and other brands are able to legally sell CBD products as dietary supplements.Studies show that CBD has anti-inflammatory value, anti-anxiety and antidepressant qualities, pain-killing potential and non-addictive traits. CBD – and other cannabinoids – are also antioxidants. The cannabinoid also regulates ECS activity, which could be key to treating and preventing several mental and physical conditions.

What are terpenes?

Many Koi CBD products also contain terpenes. These are different to cannabinoids, and are certainly not exclusive to hemp. Terpenes have a strong aroma, however, and are behind the smell of hemp, cannabis, conifers and any other plants they adorn. Terpenes have plenty of health benefits, too. A quick look at a Koi Naturals Tincture Oil lab report shows the presence of limonene, alpha-pinene and caryophyllene.

Limonene: a popular natural flavoring that may have weight loss benefits and help with bronchitis.

Alpha-pinene: studies show this terpene may improve concentration, help with memory retention and combat oily skin.

Caryophyllene: this calming terpene is also found in black pepper, and has notable anxiolytic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Terpenes don’t rival CBD for effects, but they have an exciting complementary role in many full-spectrum CBD products. And Koi CBD have picked up on this.

What is full-spectrum CBD?

‘Full-spectrum CBD’ is the term that describes products made with the full hemp extracts. This applies to several Koi CBD products, including their tincture oils and soft chews for dogs. A full-spectrum product has more CBD than any other compound, but also contains other non-intoxicating cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. Many researchers consider full-spectrum CBD more effective than mere CBD-isolate. They point to evidence showing these extracts deliver an ‘entourage effect’. This synergistic reaction potentially makes CBD more therapeutic than when consumed individually. Clinical research for these claims is still lacking, however. But we know that terpenes and flavonoids are beneficial, so having them in hemp-based CBD products is a plus in itself, even if there isn’t an additional positive reaction.

Where does
Koi CBD’s hemp come from?

In the past, Koi CBD sourced their hemp from farms in San Luis Valley and Rio Grande County, Colorado. As of October 2019, all hemp is grown from “a single farm in Colorado.” This helps ensure that every batch of CBD is consistent and meets their very high standards. Furthermore, Koi CBD confirms that the ingredients used in their products are sourced via a “strict vendor qualification process, with all hemp sourced from the United States. This is a key distinguisher, as some brands import industrial hemp from the European Union. Colorado is in many ways the home of CBD. The Stanley Brothers, who were the masterminds behind the now ever-present CBD-rich, low-THC form of hemp, are from and based in Colorado, and made all their big discoveries in the state.

How is Koi CBD extracted?

Koi CBD only uses the supercritical CO2 extraction method, according to their site. Nowadays, we expect this “gold standard” extraction from all major brands, and not just because it’s a cut above solvent-based extraction. But what makes supercritical CO2 extraction so much better than the alternatives?Firstly, it’s important to know why CBD brands need such a high-tech and flawless extraction process. In the past, solvent extraction – with substances like hexane and butane – was the preferred way of taking hemp and cannabis extracts. Solvent extraction is cheap, but is volatile and poses a health risk to the person making the extract due to extended exposure. In addition, the end result is often a degraded product, with lost cannabinoids due to burning during extraction.

Maximum purity with CBD products is so essential because hemp is a bioaccumulator. When the plant is growing, it’s literally picking up harmful byproducts – like heavy metals and toxins – from the ground. This is an awesome quality for farming, as bioaccumulators naturally tackle pollution and cleanse the soil. But it’s not so good if you want to use hemp for human consumption. And that’s where supercritical CO2 extraction comes in.

How does supercritical CO2 extraction work?

In a nutshell, this process pulls cannabinoids and terpenes from the hemp and into an extract, which is then used to make hemp-based products. First, the extractor reduces the temperature of carbon dioxide (CO2) to -70°F, turning it into liquid form as pressure is increased. When reheated, the CO2 moves into a supercritical state, where it remains dense like a liquid, but fills an area as if it were a gas. This supercritical CO2 is then pumped into the chamber with the raw, CBD-rich hemp material, so the plant’s active compounds can be siphoned off. Supercritical CO2 extraction is fantastic for cannabinoid science, as it allows individual cannabinoids and terpenes to be isolated from the plant. Researchers can then study the effects of CBD and other compounds separately, to get a better idea of how they work. This will be helpful for decades to come, as scientists have more than 100 cannabinoids to study!

Does Koi CBD contain THC?

No. Koi CBD goes the extra mile to ensure that THC is not detected – even in small amounts – in their full-spectrum products. Federal law permits up to 0.3 percent THC in hemp-based products. Many companies make the most of this limit with their whole-plant products. However, just a small percentage of THC can accumulate in the body with sustained and heavy use. xIt takes weeks for the body to fully flush THC molecules out of the system. This gradual buildup creates a low risk of failing a drugs test. Koi CBD states their products do not have “any detectable amounts of THC”, when tested at 10 parts per million (ppm). This assurance means users can take any Koi CBD product with confidence.

Does Koi CBD get you high?

No. Koi CBD products are non-intoxicating and non-psychoactive. THC is the primary psychotropic ingredient in marijuana and hemp, and is responsible for the unusual mind-altering effects that temporarily inhibit cognition and motor control. THC has this effect by binding with CB1 receptors in the ECS. CBD and THC are both cannabinoids, and have key influence in this system. However, CBD’s impact on CB1 receptors couldn’t be more different from THC’s. CBD effectively blocks activity at CB1 receptors in the brain. This interaction actually has an anti-psychoactive effects. It’s the reason why recreational cannabis growers don’t just try to boost THC content in their strains, but minimize CBD concentrations. CBD’s action at the CB1 receptor is also subject to anti-psychotic research. Studies have hinted at CBD having potential as therapeutic for psychosis and schizophrenia.

Is Koi CBD good for anxiety?

Koi CBD products are technically dietary supplements, and are not marketed as medicines. The FDA has neither researched nor approved CBD-based treatments for anxiety. However, that doesn’t mean to say CBD can’t have a positive effect on anxiety. The main reason CBD isn’t recognized as an anxiety treatment is an absence of clinical research. Every new drug must go through a series of clinical trials before it finally becomes approved. This has only happened once so far with CBD, for an anti-epileptic drug.Small studies on CBD’s anti-anxiety properties are very exciting. A 2011 Italian study looking at CBD for social anxiety tends to get the most attention, and rightly so. Scientists successfully showed in a placebo-controlled trial that CBD helps improve public speaking performances, in a simulated setting.

It’s not fully understood why CBD has this effect. Many users are taking CBD for anxiety already, commenting that it calms them down, and stops their thoughts racing. Surveys on CBD usage consistently put CBD high up the list for taking products like Koi CBD.The official answer on whether Koi CBD products work for anxiety is that it’s unclear. However, judging on user experiences and the research available, and the safety of CBD products, lots of people are happy to try tincture oils, e-liquids and edibles, with many enjoying excellent results.

Introducing CBD oil

CBD oil is perhaps the best-known and most appreciated form of CBD available. The arrival of tincture oils marked a new dawn for cannabis and hemp-based products. It showed that people could enjoy the potential benefits of cannabinoids, without having to smoke them, vape them or take them in a pot brownie. Tincture oils are more like any other type of medicine, a crucial quality which has been key to widening CBD’s appeal. The ingredient list in CBD oil products is typically short and sweet. A CBD-isolate or full-spectrum extract is diluted with a carrier oil, and possibly mixed with artificial or natural flavorings. Vegetable glycerin is a commonly-used carrier oil. But increasingly, brands are turning to fractionated coconut oil and medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil. MCT fatty acids are effective at getting more CBD into the bloodstream, and therefore increasing an extract’s therapeutic value.

How to use CBD oil

Sublingual absorption is the primary method of delivery for CBD oil products. This is more efficient than straight oral consumption, as CBD passes more immediately into the bloodstream via the sublingual glands, and doesn’t need to be digested. Sublingual absorption involves administering CBD oil under the tongue, and then holding it for 1 to 2 minutes to maximize the effects. Take CBD oil using the dropper provided, as this gives full control over dosage. Sublingually-absorbed oil generally kicks in within minutes, so upping the dose if necessary is always a possibility. The speedy effects of CBD oil are not only for convenience, but crucial for getting the most from many of CBD’s properties. Consider somebody taking CBD for anxiety. Symptoms are not always present, but tend to be very intense. A fast-acting oil is better at suppressing these symptoms than a slow-acting product which may take an hour or more to fully activate.

Other ways of taking CBD oil

BD oil is certainly versatile, and you shouldn’t feel compelled to always use sublingual absorption. Direct oral consumption may result in a slower activation time, but the steadier flow of cannabinoids into the bloodstream means the effects last longer. Some people add CBD oil to their water, or even their coffee or tea. CBD oil also works as a food ingredient. Just keep cooking temperatures under 270°F, or there’s a risk of burning off the cannabinoids.
Topical application is not an efficient use of CBD oil – there’s a reason why companies manufacture infused balms, creams and salves. But it’s helpful knowing that tincture oils work this way if you’re stuck in a jam. Perhaps you have arthritis and need a little relief in the fingers, or maybe you’re experiencing lower back pain. CBD also has antifungal and antibacterial effects, which may be beneficial for nasty cuts. Rubbing in a little bit of Koi CBD oil could make all the difference.

Can Koi CBD oil be vaped?

No, you should never vape Koi CBD oil. Ingredients in Koi Naturals Tinctures are intended for oral human consumption, and not for inhalation. Vaping tincture oils could have unintended health consequences. Furthermore, even if a CBD oil product didn’t have any vaping risks, it could damage your vaporizer, which is designed only for use with e-liquids. The confusion over whether CBD oil can be vaporized comes from the fact that vape juices often can be taken in both ways. Several CBD brands advertise that their e-liquids work when taken under the tongue, and that it’s a stealthy alternative to vaping, or simply just a healthier one. If in doubt about how your CBD product can be used, always check the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Introducing CBD vape juice

Vape juices are the most popular and sought-after Koi CBD products that we stock. But just why do people want to vape their CBD anyway? Let’s start with the health benefits. Cannabis and hemp users of days gone by would have found it easier to smoke their herb than anything else. CBD’s effects sure kick in quickly when smoked, but the exposure to carcinogens and toxins more than levels out the pros and cons. Simply put, vaporizing eliminates burning from the process, and exposure to these harmful, and cancer-causing chemicals. In terms of effects, there’s no payoff for vaping CBD instead of smoking it. The cannabinoids enter the body in the same way, passing through the lungs, before being absorbed into the bloodstream. Cannabinoids then disperse all over the body.

Some bind to CB2 receptors for anti-inflammatory purposes, others pass through the blood-brain barrier to link up with CB1 receptors, and regulate pain, mood, appetite and even cognition. CBD’s influence doesn’t stop with cannabinoid receptors, but these are the key interactions. If anything, vaping is more efficient as a consumption method than smoking. When lighting a CBD joint, plant material – and inevitably cannabinoids – burn off, and are lost forever. This doesn’t happen when vaping e-liquids.

How to use CBD vape juice

Using e-liquids is as simple or complex as you want to make it. Most people will pick a CBD-infused e-juice with their preferred flavor, fill up their vape tank and enjoy! And this is certainly the easiest way to get CBD’s benefits. But some passionate vapers like mixing multiple e-liquids, perhaps to get the advantages of two substances (e.g. CBD and nicotine), or maybe just for a better flavor. In which case, it’s often best to go for a flavorless vape additive, such as the White Koi CBD Vape Juice. This pairs well with any e-liquid.Adding CBD concentrates to vape juices is another option, either to supplement an e-liquid with CBD, or enhance the overall CBD content. Isolate powders dissolve nicely into e-liquids, and allow you to vape as normal, while getting extra relief as and when you need it.

Introducing CBD gummies

CBD gummies are a type of CBD edibles. The same gummy bears, ocean gummies, watermelon slices, gummy worms and rainbow bites that you have eaten and enjoyed for years are now available in CBD-infused form, thanks to brands like Koi CBD.Infused gummies have a number of benefits over other CBD products. Firstly, CBD edibles last for longer than vape juices and tincture oils. Secondly, gummies are undetectable from normal gummies, so it’s really easy to dose up in public spaces. CBD gummies do not have a strong aroma, and are usually sold in resealable packs or smell-proof tubs. And thirdly, every CBD gummy in a pack has the same amount of CBD – you can get the dose you want in one go, right down to the milligram.

Introducing CBD dog treats

CBD pet products could be just what your furry friend needs to enhance their mental and physical well-being. Just as with humans, the endocannabinoid system has been neglected in pets, since we didn’t know of its existence until the late 20th century. That’s beginning to change. Experts are studying CBD and hemp’s effects in animals more closely than ever. A range of veterinarian-formulated products have popped up since hemp legalization, and many pet owners are getting fantastic results.CBD appeals as a natural and non-addictive pain-killer, mostly as an alternative to opioid meds. CBD may also be better than existing drugs for tackling inflammation, which is responsible for arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and ulcerative colitis. Hemp-based Koi CBD products could also be good for pet anxiety and stress, and general lethargy.

Is Koi CBD safe for dogs and cats?

Koi CBD products made for pets – namely their soft chews and pet spray – is completely safe for your dogs and cats. Every ingredient featured in these products has been added with pets in mind. As their bodies are smaller and more sensitive than ours, dosages have to be adjusted, and it may not be safe to include ingredients that are found in products intended for humans. On this theme, it’s so important that you never give regular Koi CBD Oil or any other standard CBD product made for humans to your four-legged friends. These products are not made with pets in mind, and could contain ingredients that are harmless for you, but dangerous for your cat or dog.THC is one such substance. In regular CBD products, there may be up to 0.3 percent THC. Even though THC is potent and psychoactive, such a low level is not enough to adversely affect humans. But even this small quantity may be dangerous for pets. It’s much safer to just play it safe, and look after your canine or feline companion’s health, by only giving them products from Koi CBD’s pet selection.

Koi CBD Oil

Each product in the Koi Naturals tincture collection contains a full-spectrum PRIZM blend. This differs from the majority of full-spectrum extracts – but in a good way! Most CBD products with these extracts have a tiny concentration of THC, but enough for there to be a small threat of a failed test. This isn’t so with Koi Naturals tinctures – tests at 10ppm do not turn up any THC whatsoever. The upshot is you can comfortably enjoy CBD, and all the other cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes without the risk of a nasty surprise! Koi CBD Oil is sold in 30ml bottles, and includes coconut oil, but no artificial flavorings. Koi tinctures are available in three strengths (250mg, 500mg and 1000mg), with a full dropper administering 8.3mg, 16.7mg and 33.3mg per respective dose. Every oil is organic, pesticide-free, solvent-free and vegan-friendly. We have an unflavored oil, and also ‘Spearmint’, ‘Orange’ and ‘Lemon-Line’ tinctures if you find that natural hemp leaves a bad taste in the mouth!

We have an unflavored oil, and also ‘Spearmint’, ‘Orange’ and ‘Lemon-Line’ tinctures if you find that natural hemp leaves a bad taste in the mouth!

250 mg

This is a good initial strength if you haven’t used Koi CBD products before. An 8.3mg serving is just right for exploring CBD’s stimulating effects. Research shows that CBD is more effective at enhancing concentration when taken in lower doses – this is thanks to the cannabinoid’s biphasic properties. CBD is much preferable for improving focus and alertness to caffeine and nicotine, as both of these compounds are addictive and littered with side effects. The Koi CBD 250mg oil is a product you can feel comfortable about taking for the long-term, knowing that the effects are safe, and that you aren’t going to become dependent.

500 mg

Moving up to the 500mg Koi CBD Oil and a 16.7mg serving is a logical step if you find the lower strength isn’t delivering quite enough relief. The stronger dose brings out more of CBD’s sedative properties, which may help with tackling anxiety, stress, pain and inflammation. A lot of people take a daily dose of CBD purely for supplemental purposes. The 500mg oil is a good, mid-range option if you don’t want to feel too stimulated nor too sleepy from your CBD use. Supplementing the endocannabinoid system carries several health benefits, from modulating the immune system to boosting cognitive function.

1000 mg

The 1000mg tincture oil is the highest strength in our Koi CBD collection – a full dropper delivers a hefty 33.3mg dose. This stronger amount is best if you have severe symptoms that would really benefit from potent, sedative relief. The 1000mg oil will likely be most beneficial towards the end of the day, when you have a chance to relax physically and mentally. Some may find that high-dose servings make them a little sleepy, although this may actually help with the likes of insomnia. The great aspect with CBD, as opposed to certain treatments, is that you can easily take more, without putting yourself at risk of long-term side effects or dependency.

Koi CBD Vape Juice

Koi CBD Vape Juice is 100% THC-free and made with a CBD-isolate extract, and not the brand’s full-spectrum PRIZM blend. This e-liquid comes in a 30ml bottle, and is available in four strengths (100mg, 250mg, 500mg and 1000mg), providing servings of 3.3mg, 6.6mg, 16.7mg and 33.3mg. Koi CBD uses a typical propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin combo for their carrier oil, and a smattering of natural and artificial flavorings. The brand mentions that their e-liquids can be vaped or enjoyed sublingually. Any e-liquid-compatible vaporizer is just fine or using with Koi CBD vape juices. Whether vaping or taking this product under the tongue, wait for around three hours after the first dose, before having a second. Koi CBD advises taking a full dropper between 1 to 3 times a day, although stresses that you can use their vape juices “as needed.”This e-liquid should be stored in a cool and dry location, away from direct sunlight, as this could adversely affect quality. Koi CBD recommends consulting a physician if you’re already taking pharmaceutical medication but want to use their vape juices. Koi CBD e-liquid should not be used when pregnant or lactating.

White

This is Koi CBD’s flavorless vape additive. White Koi pairs well with any regular e-liquid, and has a neutral taste. There is perhaps a slight sweetness to this e-liquid, because Koi have used vegetable glycerin as part of the carrier oil. But this doesn’t dominate the vape juice by any means, so you can easily add this product to other e-liquids without changing the flavor. It’s perhaps impossible to make an e-liquid that is 100% flavorless – but Koi CBD has got as close as possible with their White vape juice. This product is pure, with an inoffensive taste. There’s no hempy aftertaste as you get with some e-liquids. If you’re looking for a reliable vape additive that can be vaped solo or as part of a mix, you’ve found it in White Koi.

Red

Brighten up your day with a fruity, yet dessert-themed blast of Strawberry Milkshake, with Red Koi. This is one of the first Koi CBD e-liquids that ever came to market, and it’s stood the test of time. The strawberry cream flavor is light, and ideal for long vape sessions. Not to mention, the aftertaste couldn’t be more pleasant.

Red Koi is the perfect CBD e-liquid for vapers who enjoy fruity hits, but don’t want an overpowering flavor. The cream complements the strawberry beautifully, and the vegetable glycerin helps to naturally sweeten the mix. This vape juice will go down a treat, whether it’s morning, noon or night.

Gold

Custard fans will be all over the Gold e-liquid from Koi CBD. Many brands try to master the custard and vanilla, dessert-style flavor, but very few manage to pull it off. Such vape juices are either too sickly or not strong enough, and it’s rare a manufacturer finds the sweet spot.

But Koi have done just that. Custard and vanilla dominates the flavor, but this complex e-liquid also has a dash of caramel, which goes well with the creamy taste. This is the sort of vape juice you could chill with after a meal, or at the end of the long day.

Jade

Jade Koi strikes a much different flavor than Red and Gold Koi, and is sure to leave a sour taste in the mouth. Fresh watermelon and sour green apple combine to dominate the flavor. Jade Koi is the perfect vape juice if you like sour candies, although it’s certainly an acquired taste. If anything, the watermelon stops the soury notes from being excessively potent, which works in its favor. Want a candy-themed e-juice, with hints of sourness and fruitiness? Then Jade Koi CBD Vape Juice is the right product for you.

Blue

Raspberry and dragonfruit are the two primary flavorings in Blue Koi, a sweet and candy-themed e-liquid. Dragonfruit is an unusual ingredient and makes for a delightful, rich and exotic taste. Blue Koi is not as tangy as Jade Koi, but definitely has more fruitiness to it than Red Koi. This is a unique and innovative e-liquid, as few brands would think to mix raspberry and dragonfruit. It’s a sign that Koi CBD have put their best brains together to come up with fantastic e-liquid flavors that vapers can enjoy again and again. Not all left-field flavor ideas work, but we definitely think Blue Koi is a winner.

Tropical Popsicle

Tropical Popsicle boasts a complex profile of exotic fruits. A few hits of this gorgeous e-liquid and you’ll feel like you’re relaxing on a white, sandy beach, looking out at the clear, blue ocean, somewhere in the Caribbean. Okay, maybe that’s exaggerating a little, but with Tropical Popsicle, when you close your eyes you’ll be able to pretend you’re there!

This e-liquid is sweet, fruity and relentlessly refreshing. The blast of flavor will help set your day off right, or break you out of a mid-afternoon slump. Tropical Popsicle works well whether you just want one or two hits to enhance your concentration, or if you have time to sit back and enjoy an extended vape session.

Best wattage for Koi CBD

According to Koi CBD, their e-liquids have the same consistency to that of other leading brands. The propylene glycol and food-grade vegetable glycerin carrier oil combination used by Koi CBD is found in many other vape juice products.
Therefore, Koi CBD doesn’t recommend any special wattage settings when vaping their e-liquids. However, they do suggest that you don’t go above 320°F – at this temperature, you risk burning the vape juice and losing the cannabinoids.

Koi CBD Variety Pack

The variety pack is an awesome way to save on Koi CBD, and experience their entire range for less. Variety packs include all six Koi CBD Vape Juices in any strength that you like. This product is really recommended for seasoned CBD vapers who plan on taking CBD for a long period of time. If CBD e-liquids have become part of your daily routine, it makes sense to stock up with one big purchase, rather than buying each e-liquid individually. Not to mention, you’ll save plenty on shipping costs! The only reason this e-liquid set wouldn’t work for you is if you aren’t keen on some of Koi CBD’s flavors. Let’s drill down on the savings you could make with a Koi CBD Variety Pack.

How much could you save with a Koi CBD Variety Pack?

Buying any 100mg vape juice separately currently costs $29.99, with six separate purchases costing $179.94. Meanwhile, a variety pack of six 100mg Koi CBD e-liquids comes in at $149.99. That’s nearly $30 less than if you were to buy the vape juices individually!
Each 250mg Koi CBD Vape Juice costs $39.99, adding up to $239.94 when buying each one separately. A variety pack costs just $179.99, bringing the price per e-liquid down to just under $30. That’s a $10 saving per bottle and a $60 saving in all!
Koi CBD’s 500mg e-liquids are $59.99 each, and a pricey $359.94 if bought separately. That cost comes down drastically to $249.99 with a 500mg Koi CBD Variety Pack. That works out to almost a $20 saving per bottle, and a $109.95 saving altogether!
Buying Koi CBD’s 1000mg vape juice separately costs $99.99, and $599.94 if you were to buy one of each. A 1000mg variety pack will save you just under $200, at $399.94. That’s more than $30 less per bottle!

Koi CBD Starter Kit

Starter kits are fantastic for new CBD users who don’t know where to start. With one of our starter kits, you can get a quality portable vaporizer that covers all bases, and a nice amount of e-liquid to get you started. Our Koi Starter Kit comes with a Smok Stick V9 Max, a compact and reliable portable device. The 4000mAh battery is big enough to get regular vapers through the day without running dry, and the large 8.5ml vape tanks means you don’t need to refill very often. It’s also easy to mix e-liquids together in the V9 Max. This vaporizer has a 60W output power and a 2.5-4.1V output voltage. The starter kit is available with any one of the Koi CBD e-juices in our collection.

Koi CBD Gummies

These gummies are made with a full-spectrum CBD extract, and come in a resealable package to preserve quality. Koi CBD have gone the extra mile when manufacturing these gummies, ensuring they offer consistent and potent effects. Many brands take a shortcut approach when making CBD-infused gummies, simply spraying hemp extracts onto the treats. But this method falls down because the CBD isn’t evenly spread across the edible, and some gummies may have more CBD than others.Koi CBD immerses their full-spectrum PRIZM blend into the gummies, rolling it through three times. This way, the CBD is spread through the product, rather than just coating it, providing a more effective experience in the process. Koi CBD Gummies are available in packs of 6 or 20, and in a regular or sour flavor. Each gummy contains 10mg of non-intoxicating hemp extract.

How many Koi CBD gummies should I take?

As each gummy has 10mg of CBD, it’s pretty easy to refine your CBD dosage to an amount that suits you. How many you should take depends on what effects you’re seeking. If you want a low, but gradual supply of CBD to keep you stimulated and alert at work, then a single gummy may do the trick. But if you’re getting towards the end of the day, and want more potent CBD relief to deal with aches and pains, or stresses and anxieties, then you may want a 50mg dose or more (five gummies). However many gummies you choose to take, don’t make the mistake of consuming another dose before the first has a chance to fully take effect. This is really common among first-time edible users, who don’t anticipate that it can be up to two hours before the CBD is really felt. Although even if you do have one too many, the worst-case scenario is feeling more drowsy than intended. If Koi CBD gummies are your first edible experience, recording how you feel mentally and physically after each dose is a great way of familiarizing yourself with the effects. You’ll be able to make an educated guess about how many gummies to take next time, rather than just picking a number and hoping for the best.

Koi CBD Dog Treats

These dog treats have a delicious bacon flavor, so your pet will love getting their CBD! The true-spectrum hemp oil used has cannabinoids, terpenes and an array of other helpful compounds, but no intoxicating THC. Koi CBD Soft Chews are organic, non-GMO and made only with natural ingredients. This formula is well-tolerated, even in pets with sensitive systems.

Koi CBD Spray for Cats and Dogs

The Koi CBD pet spray is suitable for felines and canines, and is arguably more versatile than soft chews. This spray contains 500mg of Koi’s unique full-spectrum blend with no THC – the perfect extract to help your pet. Coconut oil is also present in this 60ml pet product. If you’re lucky, your pet will sit still and be compliant for long enough so you can spray the oil directly into their mouth. This way you know for sure that they’re taking in the CBD and getting its therapeutic benefits. But anyone with a cat or dog will know that can be a pipe dream! Pets are notorious for shying away from their meds, so you may have more luck spraying it on their food or into their water instead. Koi CBD suggests adjusting the dose depending on the size of your pet. These guidelines may help:

Under 15lbs (small): 1-2 sprays per day

15-40lbs (medium): 2-3 sprays per day

40-75lbs (large): 3-4 sprays per day

75lbs and above (extra large): 4 or more sprays per day

This is a good starting point. But bear in mind that every situation is different. Some pets may respond better with less or more than the suggested dose, depending on the ailment they are suffering with. Assess how your pet responds and tweak the dosage if necessary. CBD is non-toxic and non-addictive, and well-tolerated in high concentrations, so there is room to manoeuvre.

Getting up to speed with vaping jargon and all the products and accessories available can take a while, and the last thing you want to do is spend big on lots of items that you’ll never or rarely need.

The Complete Guide to CBD Hemp Flower in 2019

CBD Flower

CBD flower can be thought of as the classic and traditional way to get your cannabidiol (CBD). Hemp flower looks deceptively like cannabis, and can be used for smoking vaping, or making a myriad of homemade products – except it doesn’t get you ‘high’. As with real marijuana, there is enormous variety when it comes to CBD-rich hemp flower, with a selection of sativas, indicas and hybrids to choose from.

This article intends to serve as your CBD flower bible. We’ll be digging right down into what flower actually is and the compounds it contains; how you can use this product and combine it with other types of CBD, and also outline the potential properties and benefits of all 16 strains in our CBD Genesis flower collection.

Feel free to read the guide in its entirety, or use this table of contents to find the information most relevant to you.

CBD Bud

What is CBD flower?

At first glance, you could be forgiven for thinking that CBD flower is actual marijuana. But while it may look the same and have the same aroma, the effects are much different.

CBD flower has completely the opposite cannabinoid profile to cannabis. Cannabinoids are the compounds that give hemp and marijuana strains special therapeutic effects. CBD hemp flower is packed with high levels of – surprise, surprise! – CBD.

Meanwhile, concentrations of THC in these products are incredibly small, and always below 0.3%. This is the maximum amount of THC permitted in any hemp-derived CBD product.

The high-CBD, low-THC cannabinoid profile has proven a revelation for the industry, and has been made possible through innovative cultivation and breeding practices.

The result is that CBD flower doesn’t induce any psychoactive effects, no matter how you consume it. For that reason, this non-intoxicating herb has become very popular among those who want a soothing and relaxing experience, but not the heady ‘high’ that comes from cannabis.

Sativas

In general, sativas are strains that make you feel alive. Feeling sluggish and not on top of your game? Blow away the cobwebs with any of these.

Green House Electra

Green House Electra

A potent indica, Catatonic has a traditional earthy flavor. The high CBD content and calming terpenes could be helpful for all kinds of problems.

Perhaps you’ve had a long and exhausting day, and want a nice, sedative strain to give you a peaceful night’s sleep. Maybe you have a condition that causes agonizing chronic pain. Or do you have a pounding migraine?

Catatonic has the cocktail of compounds you need to rebalance your endocannabinoid system (ECS). This strain is a gem in the late afternoons and evenings. Once you’ve taken care of business, grind up some Catatonic, then roll up and smoke away.

Sour Patch has a delightful mellowing effect, and will help put you in a good mood and peaceful state of mind. That’s a perfect combination for when you need to stay laser-focused while working or studying. Sour Patch is a brilliant strain to smoke for anxiety relief, too.

A joint or bowl of Sweet Tooth will quickly get you back to your best. Sativa strains are also associated with enhanced concentration, focus and creativity. Indicas

Indicas are all about relaxation and calm. These strains are a treat to have at the end of the day, when you want to sit back, sink into your sofa, and binge-watch your favorite show. The only difference with a CBD-rich indica strain is that you won’t feel intoxicated as you do so!

Catatonic

Catatonic

A potent indica, Catatonic has a traditional earthy flavor. The high CBD content and calming terpenes could be helpful for all kinds of problems.

Hybrids

Hybrids are a cross between sativas and indicas. Some hybrids are more sativa than indica, and vice versa. In essence, they’re the middling strains for CBD flower users who neither want deep relaxation nor stimulating cerebral effects, but something in-between.

Green House Lifter

Green House Lifter

This strain is very similar in terms of aroma and taste to Green House Electra. The Lifter hybrid is all about getting you in the right frame of mind for the day ahead.

If you’re trying to ease anxiety and pain, but still need to be physically active, Berry Wine is a great option.

In the same vein, the relaxing properties of Berry Wine will put you in a good mental space, without affecting your concentration levels and stopping you from getting on with tasks.

Exploring CBD’s benefits

Before delving into the prospective therapeutic effects of CBD, and other cannabinoids and terpenes in CBD hemp nugs, we must clarify that very few of these benefits are clinically approved.

As of October 2019, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a CBD spray treatment for epilepsy, with CBD passing extensive clinical trials confirming its anti-seizure and anti-epileptic effects.

However, experts from across the globe are learning about CBD all the time, and ground-breaking studies are published on a regular basis. From these, we can get a glimpse at CBD’s true potential.

Mental effects

CBD has emerged as a popular natural remedy for anxiety, with studies showing the compound is useful in rich dosages. The fast-acting nature of smoked or vaped flower is well-suited to combating anxiety, which is notorious for its acute and unpredictable symptoms.

Surveys have shown that an increasing number are taking CBD for depression. Researchers are currently looking at two key fields – CBD’s impact on chemical balance, and its reductive effects on brain inflammation. The science is promising, although there is some way to go.

Fascinatingly, a handful of scientific papers have suggested that CBD has antipsychotic properties. These could ultimately be harnessed to tackle psychosis and schizophrenia. Cannabis enthusiasts may be aware that psychoactive THC has been shown to increase the risk of these illnesses. But CBD’s contrasting influence appears to produce the opposite effect.

Physical effects

People smoke CBD flower for the same reasons some smoke medical cannabis: to deal with the pain. Of course, the crucial difference is that CBD-laden hemp provides these soothing, analgesic effects without intoxication. It’s not certain yet just how effective CBD is for pain, but the endocannabinoid system (ECS), where CBD operates, is known to regulate pain sensation.

Inflammation and a dysfunctional immune system is at the root of so many conditions. CBD flower is an intriguing solution to an overactive immune system, because the latter is entwined with the ECS. Messages are transported to the immune system from the ECS, via CB2 receptors, which are spread all over the body. These signals help to temper inflammation. In a nutshell, CBD’s modulating effect on the ECS seems to – indirectly – have the same effect on the immune system.

CBD flower as a supplement

In a nutshell, CBD’s modulating effect on the ECS seems to – indirectly – have the same effect on the immune system.

Terpenes

The next set of compounds we’re going to talk about are terpenes. These are present in all CBD flower strains, and are not just found in hemp and cannabis, but all kinds of herbs, flowers and spices. Terpenes are aroma molecules, and are what gives flower it’s delightful and unforgettable scent.

The therapeutic effects of terpenes sometimes go under the radar. But they play a very important role. It is these compounds that essentially decide whether a strain is an energizing sativa or a relaxing indica. We’ve picked out six terpenes to study in greater detail.

Caryophyllene

Strains with caryophyllene tend to have a certain spiciness to them. No surprise there, as it’s present in black pepper, rosemary and cloves, too. Caryophyllene aroused the interest of scientists when they discovered that the terpene can activate cannabinoid receptors. This was the first time a non-cannabinoid had been shown to have this effect.

Caroyphyllene is a CB2 receptor agonist, and therefore serves to regulate and reduce inflammation. This may ease symptoms of arthritis, and also protect against brain diseases by controlling neuroinflammation.

An animal study found that caryophyllene has analgesic effects. Hence CBD flower strains with this terpene may be better than others for pain relief, and dealing with the likes of fibromyalgia. Whether caryophyllene’s interactions with cannabinoids alters its effects – compared to when the terpene is taken in isolated fashion – remains unknown.

Linalool

Linalool is a wonderful terpene, best-known for being present in lavender, but it also occurs in birch bark. It has a calming, floral scent, and is the reason why lavender-themed products are so associated with relaxation. But leaving the smell aside for a second, what does the linalool compound actually do?

We know that linalool is great for anxiety and that it’s an excellent stress-buster. This terpene is an anti-inflammatory and analgesic – so if you want a strain for pain or arthritis, make sure it’s lavished with linalool. The sedative effects may also be good for sleep disorders like insomnia.

Myrcene

Savvy recreational marijuana users will know all about the terpene myrcene, which helps to boost the potency of THC. A mango or two with your joint is a one-way ticket to an amazing high.

Indeed, many cannabis strains are rich in myrcene anyway to serve this purpose. But if we’re keeping things serious, here’s a look into the health benefits of this spicy and peppery terpene.

Small studies have demonstrated that myrcene may alleviate pain, and animal research suggests the terpene could tackle inflammation. Myrcene is also antimicrobial and an antioxidant. There’s so much still to study about myrcene, but it’s a great terpene to have in your herb.

Terpinolene

Terpinolene rarely steals the show in any strain of flower, but what’s surprising is how regularly it appears – if only in small quantities. This terpene has a complex aroma, with floral hints, piney notes and even a whiff of citrus. That said, terpinolene’s aroma will usually be overpowered by more concentrated terpenes.

Now to the effects. Terpinolene is thought to have uplifting properties and may reduce the threat of heart disease. There is also potential for this terpene to interact with cannabinoids in CBD flower strains, although it’s too early to know for sure.

Limonene

You can probably guess from the name that limonene has a lemony and citrusy aroma. And indeed, you’ll find oodles of this compound in the rinds of lemons and oranges. But what do we know about its therapeutic value?

Limonene is uplifting and energizing, and therefore often shows up in sativas. These effects are perfect for enhancing mood, lowering anxiety, dissolving stress and soothing heartburn.

However, while we are aware of limonene’s impacts, less is understood about the terpene’s chemical reactions in the body. But all told, a tasty, limonene-infused CBD joint is sure to set your day off on the right foot.

Eucalyptol (Cineole)

Eucalyptol has an appealing spicy aroma, which has made the terpene a firm favorite among cosmetic and perfume companies. Historically, many leading cigarette brands have used eucalyptol as an additive to enhance flavor.

This terpene has a plethora of possible uses. The anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of eucalyptol have been studied for the past two decades. A study has also shown that, by lowering neuroinflammation, eucalyptol may work as a treatment for Alzheimer’s.

As an antioxidant, the terpene may also reduce oxidative stress on the brain. Finally, eucalyptol is an antibacterial and antifungal compound.

Flavonoids

Last but not least, flavonoids are also an essential part of all CBD flower strains. These compounds have always been somewhat obscure. But recent studies indicate they are more relevant than first imagined, and may be key to the therapeutic value of marijuana and hemp.

As with terpenes, flavonoids are fairly ubiquitous in the plant kingdom, and are not just contained to the cannabis species. Estimates suggest there are a whopping 6,000 flavonoids in all, with some more important than others.

We’re going to focus on just two: cannflavin A and cannflavin B, which are exclusive to the Cannabis Sativa L. subspecies. This means CBD flower contains flavonoids.

In 2019, the peer-reviewed Phytochemistry published a paper that showed the anti-inflammatory properties of these flavonoids are an astonishing 30 times stronger than aspirin. Aspirin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and has enjoyed decades of popularity as an over-the-counter painkiller.

The researchers of the Phytochemistry study got stuck into some incredibly high-level science, that you can check out here. But the upshot is that these special flavonoids have massive potential, and reaffirm that it’s not just the cannabinoids that contribute to hemp’s therapeutic effects.

Introducing the entourage effect

Further on the theme of all the components in hemp having beneficial value, let’s talk about the entourage effect. This is the term to describe the concept that “the sum of all the parts that leads to the magic or power of cannabis,” a phrase coined by research scientist Chris Emerson, Ph.D.

The ‘entourage effect’ term is not set in stone. It has been used to describe the moderating effect of CBD and THC, which tempers the psychoactive effects of marijuana. And it’s possible that other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids also help create the entourage effect. We sure know so many of these compounds are teeming with benefits.

In the CBD world, the entourage effect is touted as enhancing ‘full-spectrum’ products, making them more therapeutic than CBD-isolate products. This often refers to oils and e-liquids made with whole-plant extracts. But you can’t get a more whole-plant extract than CBD flower – it literally is the whole plant!

Not everybody subscribes to the entourage effect, and there is no definitive evidence to prove its presence. But since we know that cannabinoids beyond CBD are beneficial, along with terpenes and flavonoids, if you plan on taking CBD, you might as well get the advantages of these compounds, too! And what better way to do so than with CBD flower?

Is CBD flower right for me?

Now for the big question. Firstly, CBD flower is awesome, but it’s not the only way to take CBD. If you’re a non-smoker who hates the concept of smoking, the chances are you don’t want to start smoking CBD joints. The same applies for vaping.

If you’re in either of these boats, check out tincture oils, topicals and edibles, which are undeniably healthier. Or, scroll further down this post to learn how to make homemade edibles using CBD flower, a must-try for keen cooks!

But perhaps you’re already familiar with smoking, either with cannabis or tobacco. In this case, you’ll love CBD-rich bud. For marijuana users especially, CBD nugs smoke the same and taste the same. It practically is the same, except for the compounds!

Cannabis and hemp smokers get the benefits of CBD fast-tracked to them, because they’re inhaling the cannabinoids. Consider the passage of cannabinoids through the lungs and into the bloodstream a shortcut route, as opposed to ingesting them. If instant relief is a top priority for you, then only smokable or vapable products will suffice. That leaves you with flower, vape juices and concentrates.

Or maybe you have friends who love to smoke weed, but you’re not so enthusiastic. With CBD flower, you’re still able to join in, chill out and have an awesome time, by smoking some non-psychoactive bud.

Indeed, even cannabis users who love their THC may benefit from a CBD joint now and then. Cannabinoid cycling describes rotating between high-THC and high-CBD strains. This resets your endocannabinoid system (ECS) to stop your tolerance getting sky high, making your cannabis use more cost-efficient.

CBD flower is non-addictive

Smoking gets a bad reputation because of tobacco, and deservedly so to some extent. Carcinogens in smoke can pose serious health risks with sustained use. But there’s an important distinction to make.

While tobacco smoking is addictive, this isn’t the case for all forms of smoking. Tobacco contains high levels of nicotine, a highly addictive but fairly benign substance. However, it’s the nicotine that makes you want to keep smoking, and the excessive smoking which causes long-term health issues.

In contrast, CBD flower doesn’t contain any addictive ingredients that could get you hooked to smoking hemp joints or bowls. There’s no nicotine in flower, and as THC doesn’t play a factor, there’s no risk of dependence, which affects 9 percent of people who try marijuana.

In fact, the opposite may be true about CBD, with research pointing to the cannabinoid having anti-addictive effects. A study looking at smoking cessation showed participants who used an inhaler smoked less over the testing period than those who had a placebo solution. You can check out the details here.

The key takeaway is that using CBD flower won’t leave you dependent. Even if you smoked every single day for months on end, this doesn’t lead to any chemical changes that will leave you craving your next joint. Sure, you may miss it if you did stop (many simply enjoy the smoking experience), but there’s no risk of a chemical addiction. In short, smoking hemp is still smoking, just not as you may know it!

How to enjoy CBD flower

Flower is awesome because it is so versatile. If you’re somebody who loves to experiment, and try their CBD in various ways, your options with high-CBD flower products are endless. In this section, we’ll outline how to smoke and vape flower, and how to use it to concoct several homemade products, which you can tailor to your requirements.

Smoke it

There are many possibilities with smoking flower. Each of these provide a slightly different experience, and some methods are easier than others.

In a joint

Rolling a joint and smoking it is the classic way of enjoying any type of flower, whether it’s loaded with CBD or THC. A cone-shaped joint is the first thing that comes to mind for most when thinking about smoking pot or hemp.

Learn how to roll and you can make your own joints – the majority go for a traditional cone, but feel free to experiment with Ls and cross joints. Find the process too fiddly? Why not purchase some empty cones and fill them yourself. This way you are guaranteed to get a nicely packed joint that smokes perfectly.

Joints work well in a chilled environment with friends, and alone. They’re good to share, but we wouldn’t blame you for having an entire joint filled with one of our flower strains to yourself. And with joints, you decide how much you smoke. Don’t want it all at once? Just save some for later!

The smoke from a joint is really, really hot, so most opt to take small tokes, rather than huge inhales. Inevitably, the more you smoke, the bigger draws your lungs will be able to handle. If rolling your own joints, we recommend you use natural hemp papers. Other papers – and particularly flavored papers – may contain nasty chemicals. You don’t want to inhale those.

In a bong

Bongs are great for taking huge hits. The water inside cools down the smoke, allowing you to inhale much greater quantities than you can with a joint. Filling the bong tube with ice will cool the smoke down even more!

In CBD terms, this means you can get a strong dose from just a couple of hits. This is brilliant for getting rid of your symptoms as quickly as possible. Simply fill the bong with water and the bowl with CBD bud. Then light up, and enjoy!

Glass bongs and silicone bongs are the two main types of bong. The former offers the purest taste, providing it’s made with borosilicate glass. The latter is a life-saver if you’re clumsy or want to travel with your bong, as there’s no chance of it breaking!

Silicone bongs are much easier to clean, which you’ll inevitably need to do after burning through so many CBD flower bowls! Glass bongs are a little trickier, but just use some isopropyl alcohol and salts to clear away and gunk and residue on the inside. Rinse and dry before using again.

In a pipe

Pipes are perfect if you don’t want the hassle of cleaning a bong, or rolling a joint. The smoke heat sits nicely in between the two. Just grind up some CBD flower, pack your bowl, and smoke away! A little cleaning every now and then is necessary to keep your smoke tasting great. But it’s less time-consuming than cleaning a bong.

In a bubbler

Bubblers are pretty similar to pipes, except they hold water at the bottom to cool the smoke. Bubbler smoke is cooler than in a pipe, but hotter than in a bong. All the same, you’ll be able to take big, wholesome draws of CBD-infused smoke with a bubbler. These nifty little devices are easy to travel with, and fairly simple to maintain.

With concentrates

However you choose to smoke, one sure way of upping the ante is by mixing in some concentrates. A smidge of wax or crumble on top of a bowl or in the middle of the joint will up the strength of your CBD flower product. It’s perhaps not the most economical way of using concentrates. But if your priority is to get a high dose in short shrift, this is a good trick to have up your sleeve.

Vape it

Vaping CBD flower is potentially more cost-effective and efficient than smoking it. The body absorbs more cannabinoids from vapor than smoke, since none are lost through burning. Vaping simply cooks the herb to a temperature hot enough for vapor production, but not enough to cause burning.

This is healthier than smoking, too, as the body isn’t exposed to harmful carcinogens from smoke. Typically, cooler vaping temperatures produce more flavor, while higher heat settings generate more vapor. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to vaping.

The control you have over your experience depends on the quality of your device. Basic dry herb vapes may have just one temperature setting, or at best, a limited range of options. This is fine if all you’re worried about is getting CBD into your system.

However, enthusiasts who want to fine-tune their dry herb vaping will prefer a device with a temperature control system that operates to one-degree intervals. These are more expensive, but can be well worth it if you vape a lot, and like to experiment.

Nowadays, some dry herb vapes even have Bluetooth functionality, so that you can connect them to your smartphone or tablet. This puts you in even more command of your experience.

We emphasize the term ‘dry herb vaporizer’. There are many vaping devices on the market, but a lot of these will only work with e-liquids. Ensure that any vape you purchase has dry herb functionality. Some models are compatible with flower, vape juice and concentrates.

Homemade edibles

Usually when thinking of CBD edibles, it’s professionally manufactured products that spring to mind, such as CBD gummies, chocolates, honey sticks, and hard candies. These edibles are fantastic, but they’re not as fun as making CBD treats yourself!

Homemade edibles like pot brownies are much-loved in the cannabis scene, and will likely always be popular. Now it’s time to bring this creativity to the world of CBD.

Finding the right CBD flower dosage

“How much CBD flower should I take?” is essentially the same question as, “How long is a piece of string?” However much or long you need it to be! Not all CBD users want the same thing from flower, as we’ve already covered, and therefore the dosages can vary.

CBD has biphasic effects. Small doses (usually below 20-30mg) are stimulating and boost concentration. Higher doses (above 30mg) tend to be more relaxing and sedating. These figures are just rough estimates. CBD doesn’t affect everyone in the same way, and researchers haven’t homed in on precise doses yet.

We have an idea how much to take for some conditions, thanks to studies. Higher doses are required for sleep, according to one paper, and the same goes for anxiety. Be prepared to take 100mg or more for the full effects. The good news is the body tolerates large CBD doses with ease, and there are no major side effects to heavy, regular consumption.

How does this apply to flower specifically, when you can’t measure out an exact dosage or serving size? Weighing out a set amount of flower would give you a good idea of how much you’re taking. But the cannabinoids are not distributed evenly across the plant as they are in tincture oils and vape juices. So you’ll never get it right down to the milligram.

A CBD flower product with 20% CBD contains 200mg of CBD per gram. Remember that 1% is equal to 10mg. Some brands that sell pre-rolled CBD cigarettes, such as Plain Jane, state on the packaging how much CBD is in each smoke.

Get to know the CBD Genesis flower selection

CBD Genesis is enthusiastic about flower products. That’s why we have such an all-encompassing range of CBD herb. At present, we have 16 strains to pick from, all of which are sure to give you premium CBD relief, while getting your taste buds going.

Over the next few months, we’ll be introducing you to all the strains in our collection. For now, let’s get to know four of them. We have a superb sativa called Green House Electra, a hybrid known as Green House Lifter, and a potent indica that goes by Catatonic.

These high-quality strains are sold in eighths and quarters. That’s 3.5 grams and 7 grams for those of you working off the metric system.

Can I fly with CBD flower?

If going by the letter of the law, yes, you can fly with CBD flower. Hemp-based products with less than 0.3% THC are legal at national level, and it’s within the law to travel with them, cross state lines with them, and possess them on federal property (airports).

But in reality, it might not be so easy. As you can imagine, CBD flower looks like weed, smells like weed, and as far as a potentially uninformed TSA agent may be concerned, probably is weed. If you get stopped, you’d be within your rights to have products tested, and of course, all CBD Genesis flower products would conform to federal requirements.

It’s up to you whether you want to take the risk of a time-consuming hassle and some stressful moments. With hemp flower’s distinct aroma, there’s a much higher chance of it being picked up in screening, as opposed to oils, edibles, capsules and vape juices. When making a judgment call, you may decide it’s easier to travel with one of these than CBD flower.

Can I take CBD flower with alcohol?

Combining CBD flower with alcohol definitely doesn’t come with the risks of mixing THC-rich cannabis with alcohol. But just because you can, does that mean you should?

Research shows that CBD has a protective effect against alcohol-induced cell damage, and that the cannabinoid lowers concentration of alcohol in the blood.

Both compounds easily permeate the blood-brain barrier, hence why they have a mental effect.

CBD’s anti-addictive effects may help to reduce the risk of alcohol abuse and dependence, although the science is far from conclusive. It’s just something we can anticipate since we know CBD generally has anti-addictive properties.

Having an alcoholic drink with a strong dose of CBD could produce an amplified sedative effect. This may induce a rather pleasant and relaxing feeling, and even aid with sleep.

Experimenting with mixing CBD and alcohol can’t exactly be recommended, but there’s nothing to suggest it’s dangerous. If you’re familiar with both substances, you could confidently give it a try.

Conclusion

We’ve covered a lot of ground in this post, but hopefully have answered any queries that you have about CBD flower. Cannabis fans who have embraced CBD will know just how much you can do with the herb itself. For those who have only tried oils or e-liquids, flower is a great way of learning more about CBD, and hemp in general.

This guide has also strived to show why CBD flower is not just about CBD, and that hemp is as awesome as it is because of the collection of compounds, their individual effects, and their combined interactions. Only with whole-plant products is it possible to appreciate these factors.

And we hope that this post has given you a clearer idea about what to expect from our CBD Genesis strains. The non-psychoactive and non-addictive traits of CBD are crucial, but knowing the more detailed effects helps with finding the perfect strain, and enjoying maximum relief.

The Complete Guide to CBD Hemp Flower in 2019

  • Caryophyllene

  • Linalool

Linalool is a wonderful terpene, best-known for being present in lavender, but it also occurs in birch bark. It has a calming, floral scent, and is the reason why lavender-themed products are so associated with relaxation. But leaving the smell aside for a second, what does the linalool compound actually do?

We know that linalool is great for anxiety and that it’s an excellent stress-buster. This terpene is an anti-inflammatory and analgesic – so if you want a strain for pain or arthritis, make sure it’s lavished with linalool. The sedative effects may also be good for sleep disorders like insomnia.

  • Myrcene

  • Terpinolene

Terpinolene rarely steals the show in any strain of flower, but what’s surprising is how regularly it appears – if only in small quantities. This terpene has a complex aroma, with floral hints, piney notes and even a whiff of citrus. That said, terpinolene’s aroma will usually be overpowered by more concentrated terpenes.

Now to the effects. Terpinolene is thought to have uplifting properties and may reduce the threat of heart disease. There is also potential for this terpene to interact with cannabinoids in CBD flower strains, although it’s too early to know for sure.

  • Limonene

  • Eucalyptol (Cineole)

Introducing the CBD Genesis Joint and Kief Infused Pre-roll

If rolling is something you can’t take to, or you just want to smoke a perfect joint, then perhaps the CBD Genesis Joint and Kief Infused Pre-Roll may interest you. Each joint is packed with top quality flower, and amped up with potent kief.

“What is kief?” you may be asking. Kief is the term used to describe the resinous trichomes from hemp and marijuana, which are teeming with cannabinoids and terpenes. Kief means ‘pleasure’ in Arabic, and it sure is pleasurable in its effects!

The pre-roll is available in a few flavors, including Grape, Coconut and Strawberry Lemonade. These joints are sold individually and in a pack of 12.
